As part of our commitment to creating safe environments for the children within our parishes, schools, and communities, we are pleased to inform you of the implementation of the VIRTUS® “Protecting God’s Children” Program in the Diocese of Charleston.  This illuminating program will allow us to have a broader impact on all individuals having contact with the children entrusted to our care.  Everyone identified must attend this program regardless of their attendance at a previous safe environment program.

Who Must Attend?

All employees of any parish or school regardless of their position in the parish or school.

All adult volunteers who have access to children or vulnerable adults.

When Must This Be Completed?

Any new hires or new volunteers must attend a session within 90 days of their association with a parish or school.

How Do I Register?

1. Go to www.virtus.org.

2. Click on the “Registration” tab on the left column.

3. Select Diocese of Charleston, SC from the drop down menu.

4. Complete your registration information and check the box next to the training session you wish to attend. (There are hundreds to choose from.)

5. Click “Submit Registration.”  You will get a message on the screen confirming the registration.

6. Attend the session you have chosen and be sure to sign-in on the sign-in sheets.
